Tour dates are up!

New dates will be added as they are scheduled. We'll keep you updated.

Also, KS will be on vacation this week and probably won't be answering any e-mail or posting any blogs...

KS NEEDS SOME INSTRUMENTS…

I’m getting really close to having those tour dates up. I know the tour starts July 16 in Bellingham, WA, so there is plenty of time to get the word out…right?? In the meantime…

Any fans in DC area: I will be playing the Jammin Java with Jesse Sykes on July 23…I am looking for gear to borrow! A kurzweil keyboard, or similar, with realistic piano sound, sustain pedal, weighted keys, and stand; and a fender amp or similar with reverb. I will think of some kind of prize. Come to think of it, July 21 at the Middle East in Boston is also supposed to be with Jesse and I need the same stuff that night. OK, I have already mentioned two of the dates, I will put the confirmed ones up ASAP. I’m looking for a keyboard in Chapel Hill (July 24) and Cleveland (Aug. 1). And the keyboard/amp combo in Minneapolis (Aug. 3). I know it sounds weird, usually musicians bring their own stuff, and I am…I’m bringing a guitar, I just couldn’t imagine fitting all that other stuff on that plane (and having it survive). If you can assist me in any of these cases...ken@kenstringfellow.com is standing by.

Painted Sky Discs in Japan has released a compilation called ‘To Meet You…’ which features an exclusive track by my band Saltine (1997-2000) called ‘Just A Thought’. This was recorded a few years ago in Seattle, with former Posie Brian Young on drums. Also on the comp: Ross, Lemonator, Mark Kozelek, a track by the Posies form our last EP, a track by Orange Humble Band (in which I am the vocalist), Beezewax (a track I produced), Sweet Apple Pie, Gallygows, Jon Auer, Knievel, and Parkinson DC (a track I produced). admittedly, this has been out for awhile, so, look in the ‘2000-2001 catalogue’ section to find it on their website!

This week I have been continuing to put together the tracks by cheap star, they are turning out incredibly pro for having been recorded in a practice place…and the tracks I mixed for loopy are rather pro too. Of course, they have my trademark dirt throughout.

This past Friday I did indeed perform with Neal Casal at the Olympia, and did tickle the ironing board with Kevin Salem as well…was I onstage with members of Rollins Band and the Barracudas at the same time? Did I make that up? I have intentions to score the Neal Casal hat trick and join him at the Hotel Du Nord tonight (Sunday June 20)…but wait, isn’t it 3:30 Sunday morning? Don’t I have a tennis court with Remi from Cheap Star at 9? Wasn’t Malevolent Creation playing tomorrow afternoon? Isn’t it father’s day?

Love
KS

I have been ‘working’ in the studio this week, with a French band called Cheap Star, on some demos? tracks for a future record? at a
rehearsal place on the edge of Paris, and this weekend I am mixing two songs for a Danish band called Loopy…

On the 18th, this coming Friday, I will be joining Neal Casal, playing piano on a song as he participates at the Crossroads Night #1 at the Olympia in Paris (8pm) Also performing: Terry Lee Hale, members of the Pretty Things, Vanilla Fudge…it’s a freakout of some 5 hours of music from the last 35 years of popular western culture…everybody plays some 5 songs so it should go by pretty quick…for info (in French)

Released recently: Cerveris ‘Dog Eared Love’ pet (pun intended) project by actor Michael Cerveris, I play various instruments and do some singing here and there. Check out the tracks ‘SPCA’ and ‘Dog Eared’ to hear hot rhythm section of KS and Janet Weiss (Quasi/Sleater-Kinney). On Low Heat Rec., in NYC. Check out www.cerveris.com for l’info

Looks like the Itunes ‘Soft Commands’ preview has gone already…but on the YepRoc website you can hear two songs…hey, it’ll be out in a month at this point. Yes, I will have the tour dates up soon…

As you see form my last post, I played piano for Neal Casal for a few songs the other day, Andrew Bird was also onstage, it was the first time I’d played live in a couple of months and honestly, I needed that.

I attended the Roland Garros French Open on Friday, and was interviewed for the daily program that is given out there…if you happened to be there Sat. you may have found me inside.

I am still waiting for the KS solo tour dates to get finalized, this will be a mix of headlining and support shows, in late July-early August, in the US. I hope to have that up by the next time I post.
