KS NEEDS SOME INSTRUMENTS…
I’m getting really close to having those tour dates up. I know the tour starts July 16 in Bellingham, WA, so there is plenty of time to get the word out…right?? In the meantime…
Any fans in DC area: I will be playing the Jammin Java with Jesse Sykes on July 23…I am looking for gear to borrow! A kurzweil keyboard, or similar, with realistic piano sound, sustain pedal, weighted keys, and stand; and a fender amp or similar with reverb. I will think of some kind of prize. Come to think of it, July 21 at the Middle East in Boston is also supposed to be with Jesse and I need the same stuff that night. OK, I have already mentioned two of the dates, I will put the confirmed ones up ASAP. I’m looking for a keyboard in Chapel Hill (July 24) and Cleveland (Aug. 1). And the keyboard/amp combo in Minneapolis (Aug. 3). I know it sounds weird, usually musicians bring their own stuff, and I am…I’m bringing a guitar, I just couldn’t imagine fitting all that other stuff on that plane (and having it survive). If you can assist me in any of these cases...ken@kenstringfellow.com is standing by.
Painted Sky Discs in Japan has released a compilation called ‘To Meet You…’ which features an exclusive track by my band Saltine (1997-2000) called ‘Just A Thought’. This was recorded a few years ago in Seattle, with former Posie Brian Young on drums. Also on the comp: Ross, Lemonator, Mark Kozelek, a track by the Posies form our last EP, a track by Orange Humble Band (in which I am the vocalist), Beezewax (a track I produced), Sweet Apple Pie, Gallygows, Jon Auer, Knievel, and Parkinson DC (a track I produced).
admittedly, this has been out for awhile, so, look in the ‘2000-2001 catalogue’ section to find it on their website!
This week I have been continuing to put together the tracks by cheap star, they are turning out incredibly pro for having been recorded in a practice place…and the tracks I mixed for loopy are rather pro too. Of course, they have my trademark dirt throughout.
This past Friday I did indeed perform with Neal Casal at the Olympia, and did tickle the ironing board with Kevin Salem as well…was I onstage with members of Rollins Band and the Barracudas at the same time? Did I make that up? I have intentions to score the Neal Casal hat trick and join him at the Hotel Du Nord tonight (Sunday June 20)…but wait, isn’t it 3:30 Sunday morning? Don’t I have a tennis court with Remi from Cheap Star at 9? Wasn’t Malevolent Creation playing tomorrow afternoon? Isn’t it father’s day?
Love
