GETTING UP...TO EARLY SPEED
The Posies ran thru a set of freshly rehearsed catalogue and new material at the Nightlight Lounge in Bellingham (our hometown) on Saturday...and while I will admit we had to juggle so much new information that we couldn't possibly break the bounds of self-consciousness, we made it to the end and realized that next time we'll play at 120 db instead of 140. Live and learn. Before the show we had a raucous visit to KUGS, the fantastic station at Western Wa. Univ., the first station to play KS music of any kind (my high school band the Genetic Defects). Today we also enjoyed a photo shoot with the lovely David Belisle, who I spend time on tour with often as he works with REM as an assistant to the band and photographer to boot. There are many fine examples of his work in the Photos section of KS.calm.
On a personal note, I spent mother's day at my mom's house completely miserable in bed with some kind of food poisoning (not from my mom's cooking!) and missed the party. I got up long enough to buy flowers and fill her gas tank!
I spent much of today thinking I had lost my brand new perscription shades, that I had just picked up from my beloved optometrists, SPEX in Seattle. I am getting GPS chips to glue to every pair of glasses I own this week. They were at the bottom of my bag. In a tennis shoe. In their case, of course.
